Soapbox Nation’s adventure began in 2006 when founder, Jason Brain, started an open mic at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Encino, CA. The weekly Thursday night event for musicians, poets, and comedians began slowly building a word-of-mouth following and really hit it’s stride in 2008.
In December 2011, Soapbox Nation undertook a new radio show, Soapbox Radio, on Blog Talk Radio and has reached a large listener base while covering such topics regarding the creative world as social media, promotion, inspiration, and collaboration.
In September 2012, Soapbox Nation began a monthly showcase to promote up-and-coming talent in Sherman Oaks, CA. The event is a talent showcase for musicians, spoken word poets, stand up and improvisation, dance, and art and is held at the Complete Actors Place on the 1st Saturday of each month.
